Olympic Rip Off in Paris

Paris 2024 Olympics: Camping Prices Take a Leap!

The FNHPA (National Federation of Outdoor Hospitality) has announced some shocking news: thanks to the 2024 Paris Olympics, campsite reservation rates in the Île-de-France region are going through the roof. In fact, some sites are already completely booked up for the summer of 2024.

But that’s not all – prepare your wallets because prices have shot up by at least 20 to 30%! Take, for example, a four-star campsite located just 20 minutes from Paris in Val-de-Marne. Their four-person bungalow accommodations? Fully booked for the Olympics period. Oh, and they’ve also decided to double their prices during the Games, from July 26 to August 11.

If you’re hoping for a 3-bedroom mobile home, well, expect to shell out a cool €5,000 per week. Yes, you read that right – five thousand Euros for a week of camping. But hey, you get to be near the Olympics, right?

In total, there are 86 campsites around Paris – including one in the city itself! According to the Federation, the price hikes are widespread across all of them. The rate increase varies depending on the campsite, of course, but we’re talking about serious inflation here.

Booking platforms opened up their reservations as early as the end of August, says Benoit Decagny from the FNHPA. While availability in Île-de-France is very limited for the 2024 summer period, there are still a few spots left, according to the Federation’s representative in the region.

And for those desperately trying to secure a spot in Paris itself, fear not! The campsite in the 16th arrondissement has got your back – kind of. They’ll redirect you to other sites in the Huttopia network, such as those in Versailles or Rambouillet. So, not exactly Paris, but hey, you’ll be a short train ride away from the action.
